There are many video formats and codecs available, meaning that in function of the device where we want to play the video on or depending of our compression needs, we can choose the correct one. But with such diversity, we can often find that we are missing the correct codec to start playing the video.

  A good idear so that we don't have to install each codec one by one is to use a codec pack. The main inconvenient that can appear in these cases are the incompatibility between the different codecs that we have installed in our computer.   Combined Community Codec Pack is a small codec pack compatible with Windows Vista, XP and 2000, that includes all the necessary things to reproduce all the most common multimedia files.
